With 15 goals in all competitions to his name, Vardy is City's top goalscorer this season, but missed the Emirates FA Cup last-eight defeat at Chelsea before the international break.

With the Foxes preparing to take on Bristol City at Ashton Gate in the Sky Bet Championship on Friday, Maresca was able to confirm that the No.9 is back in contention. Ricardo Pereira and Dennis Praet could also possibly be involved.

There was updates in the Manager's press conference on Tom Cannon and Ben Nelson, who are set for short absences. Kasey McAteer is yet to return from an injury which has kept the Academy graduate out since the end of February.

We need to be careful to help him come back and not get injured again.

Enzo Maresca on Kasey McAteer

"Kasey is still out," the Italian told the media on Thursday. "Jamie’s back. Ricky could be involved in the squad. Dennis could be involved in the squad. The only one fit 100 per cent is Jamie Vardy. Ben Nelson has an injury from the [England Elite League Squad] national team. Tom Cannon was injured during the international break."

Elaborating further, Maresca discussed the care which is being taken to ensure speedy but measured returns from injury.

"[McAteer’s] problem is the same injury, the same area, as last time," he added. "We need to be careful to help him come back and not get injured again. We don’t have a date at the moment but hopefully it can be soon.

"It’s a short injury [for Cannon]. He was injured just a few days ago. Now with the amount of games, it’s difficult to say Bristol, Norwich or Birmingham. [Nelson] could be a short injury as well."
