Leicester City's Ben Chilwell, Demarai Gray and Bartosz Kapustka featured on the opening day of the UEFA Euro U21 Championships on Friday evening.

English left back Chilwell, 20, was in the starting XI while Gray appeared from the bench as the young Lions played out a 0-0 stalemate with holders Sweden at the Kielce Stadium.

Kapuskta, meanwhile, got 59 minutes under his belt as host nation Poland lost their opening Group A fixture 2-1 against Slovakia in front of a large home following in Lublin.

During a fraught clash between England and Sweden in southern Poland, Chilwell was adjudged by the referee to have felled Linus Wahlqvist in the penalty area in the 80th minute.

Demarai Gray and Ben Chilwell

Demarai Gray and Ben Chilwell leave the pitch at full-time after a 0-0 draw with Sweden on Monday.

Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, however, got a hand to the Norrköping striker’s spot-kick before also saving Carlos Strandberg's follow-up to secure a point.

Chilwell, who also had a shot deflected onto the bar for Aidy Boothroyd's side, had been joined on the pitch nine minutes earlier by City team-mate Gray.

The Foxes pair made a combined 63 appearances for the Club last term and are likely to be key figures once again for Craig Shakespeare's men during the 2017/18 campaign.

Elsewhere, 20-year-old Polish midfielder Kapustka, who joined City last summer, was named in Marcin Dorna’s starting line-up for a 2-1 defeat by Slovakia.

Bartosz Kapustka

Bartosz Kapustka features for Poland Under-21s.

Patryk Lipski gave Poland the lead inside 60 seconds before Martin Valjent's equaliser just 19 minutes later. Pavol Šafranko completed the Slovak turnaround with 12 minutes to play.

After England and Poland were both placed in Group A, Chilwell and Gray could line-up against Leicester colleague Kapustka when the two countries face each other next Thursday.

Before then, England take on Slovakia and Poland go head-to-head with Sweden on Monday night. Development Squad ‘keeper Daniel Iversen is also on duty in Poland with Denmark U21s.
